Remembering Duck

Donald “Duck” Dunn
(from the 1980 film, “The Blues Brothers”)

This week, T-Bone’s Prime Cuts pays tribute to Donald “Duck” Dunn.   Duck passed away this past Sunday morning while on tour in Japan.   Many people know him from The Blues Brothers movies or as the bass player in the Stax house band: Booker T. & the MG’s.  I wanted to dig a little deeper in his catalog though, and came up with tracks from 18 different artists he played with.

Booker T & the MG’s

We’ll feature tracks from Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Booker T. and the MG’s, Eddie Floyd, William Bell, Albert King, Sam & Dave, Johnnie Taylor, Delaney & Bonnie, Muddy Waters, Jesse Ed Davis, Freddie King, Elvis Presley, Joan Baez, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Bill Withers and The Blues Brothers.

T-Bone’s Prime Cuts airs in the 2nd hour of the Redbud Radio 3-hour block on WICR, 88.7 FM in Indianapolis at 1:00 AM Eastern Time – Saturday night/Sunday morning.  And at 8:00 PM Eastern on DJCR 1670 AM in San Antonio, TX.

Guitar…guitar…GUITAR!

For this week’s show, I wanted to feature some of my favorite guitarists.    Had a tremendously hard time narrowing it down to just a few.  About halfway through the process- I realized that this will have to be a monthly or quarterly type show… too many guitarists, too little time!  This week is PART ONE!

I’ll spin songs featuring these guitarists: Ernie Isley, David Gilmour, James Honeyman Scott, Tony Iommi, Robin Trower, James Burton, Steve Cropper, Rick Vito, Ritchie Blackmore, Roy Buchanan, Steve Lukather and Larry Carlton.
